Make your own Self Yew Warbow
Come to our workshop and make your own Oregon Self Yew warbow. This course will be run over two consecutive days. After a brief discussion of your previous experience and expectations we will tailor the course to you.
A general overview would be: morning cutting the tapers, shaping the bow, getting an accurate profile then fitting nocks. Depending on time the customer can opt to have us speed up the process by occasionally taking over. The next day we should be able to brace your new bow and after a discussion of tillering and what to look out for, we will start tillering your new bow. Stopping for lunch and drinks occasionally as medieval bow-making is physical work! Time permitting we will fully sand and varnish the bow so you can leave with something which requires no more work. A string will then be provided along with instructions on care and storage.
*Should for any reason the bow not be completed then it can be finished and posted to the new owner.
All materials, consumables, tools and finishes are provided, although customers are encouraged to bring their own PPE especially a high quality dust mask.
